Experience

Virgin Media, London
Front end web developer, user experience developer

I worked with a designer, information architect and lead developer. Our objective was to redo the design of the website, improve usability, improve performance and add social networking functionality to engage the user. The project was managed as AGILE and maintained using SVN. Strict deadlines became a top priority and for this reason I used jQuery plugins (validation, UI, countdown, Juitter) and widgets (SWF uploader) to speed up development. Minification and combining files optimised performance of web pages. I built the film carousel in jQuery. This was particularly challenging as it was the only way for users to browse and search for films.View showcase

BT Library, UK Web Archive, London
Front end web developer, user experience developer, user interface developer

The UK Web Archive allocated 5 weeks to redo their website. Their current website was built using tables and was completely unusable. After understanding the website's objectives and target market, I wire-framed and paper-prototyped the users journey through the website. Using these I designed and approved a set of reusable template pages which I developed in to validating, browser and platform XHTML pages using Freemarker templates (Java) and jQuery. Informal usability studies provided feedback for final improvements. View showcase

Built on a Java platform I used JSP and Apache Struts to build validating, browser and platform compatible and accessible XHTML pages.
